Hi guys, I'm opening up my first private mentorships for my introductory course to digital Illustration!
About me: I am a concept artist and illustrator in the film and game industry. Like most of you, I grew up drawing and doing art as a hobby. I did not know how much my art education was lacking until I discovered Art Center College of Design. Since than, I have worked with companies such as Blizzard Entertainment, Disney Interactive, Gearbox Software, Applibot, Games Workshop and Wizards of the Coast.
With this mentorship, I'll be sharing what I've learned over the years as an artist, instill a heavy focus on art fundamentals, and give detailed insight into my art making process.
This 8-week course comes with:
Downloadable narrated video demos
Weekly homework assignments
1-on-1 Google Hangout critique and paintovers (1.5 hour/week)
Brushes, PSDs and JPGs
Lessons in this Course:
Week 1: Value Understanding light and form is a must have skill as an artist to create not only beautiful, but accurate, imagery.
Week 2: Design This week will cover some basic design principles as well as different methods, such as thumbnailing and sketching, to help you better understand how to come up with concepts and designs.
Week 3: Perspective Perspective doesn't have to be a headache! Let's break it down and learn to use it correctly when designing and illustrating.
Week 4: Color Here we'll go over the fundamentals of color and how to reference color by studying life and images. Color can be manipulated in powerful ways to emote a plethora of moods in your paintings.
Week 5: Anatomy Anatomy can be tricky, this lesson will break down basic human and some animal anatomy, and how to use reference to better depict anatomy correctly. Week 6: Texture If you look at the world, everything is made of its own material. Whether it be skin and scales or rocks and metal, this week we'll dive into how to convey the differences appropriately when painting.
Week 7: Storytelling A lot of different elements can push the story in a painting. This lesson will explore those ideas, especially composition, to really convey meaning in a single image.
Week 8: Photoshop By this point you should have a better understanding of important art fundamentals. This week we finally explore different Photoshop techniques to really make the most out of your art fundamental knowledge.
This course will give you an introductory breakdown of some of the important art foundation skills needed to improve as an artist. I will be able to give you paintovers and critiques along the way as we tackle painting exercises together during our Google Hangout sessions.
There are limited spots, because of the one on one nature of this program I cannot accept too many students.
If you are interested in a mentorship, please send me a message with a link to your artwork and any questions you might have! Thanks!
